What is the keto diet?

Ketogenic diets are specially designed to consume dietary food, usually in the form of ketones, instead of carbohydrates as a major fuel source for your body. This state is known as ketosis. Usually, the body uses carbohydrates as its main source of energy. In keto diet, carbohydrates are processed through a process called the Krebs cycle. Our body muscles and liver contain extra carbohydrates, which means we save energy for the time when we do not eat.

But if you are consuming too many carbohydrates or not eating for a long time, your body will get short of stored carbohydrates. In this condition, our body can use fat as fuel, not carbohydrates. The stored fats are broken down into energy units called ketone, which is utilized to store energy.

Ketogenic diets may be a new idea, we have all experienced ketosis before. Ketosis occurs every time we consume foods and glucose stored in us. Examples include any fasting state: when you sleep, when you are too tired to eat, after intensive training or during pregnancy.

Losing weight quickly can work as moral support for those who are following because the fast results are always good. It can also be very useful if you expect to lose 5-10 pounds for upcoming events.

It is very important to realize that losing weight fast is not the same as losing fat fast. Due to biological change which happens when body parts consume fats instead of carbohydrates, the body loses much of the water that is stored. This can cause a loss of 5 or more pounds much faster. But the results you get in the first few weeks are not trustable.

Many of us consume a lot of sugars, particularly processed sugars. Processed sugar and carbohydrates are dangerous and can cause chronic illness. By drastically dropping the number of carbohydrates, Keto foods help eliminate most of these unhealthy items from foods. Reducing sugars and carbohydrates is one of the best results of this diet. Avoiding processed carbohydrates, can support improve your overall health and possibly will defend you from different diseases.

Symptoms of flu include headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, insomnia, constipation and vomiting. These symptoms can stay from a few days to weeks. You can get relief from some of these indications by having more water.

When you quit the keto diet, you are likely to go through rapid weight loss, even if it is only 5-10 pounds. You will also be able to recover the weight of the lost water as you begin your diet. You will start gaining weight by just watching helplessly as the gauge goes back up. You can feel how damaging it can be.

3.Often includes unhealthy foods:

There are many ways to follow the keto diet more healthily. One of them is by simply emphasizing the plant-based fats and food having low carbohydrates like beans and vegetables. Inappropriately, some people use this excuse to eat desire fat though avoiding fruits and vegetables. If you eat unhealthy fat instead of healthy fats then these types of foods can be harmful to your long-term health.

I will never recommend a ketogenic diet as a nutritionist nor a bariatric surgeon will recommend it. We recommend patients eat foods rich in protein and low carbohydrates. As far as you concentrate on having more protein and fewer carbohydrates, you will naturally lose weight. However, if you want to try the Keto diet, I recommend that you should consume 70 grams or more protein per day.
